Mark Wahlberg Threatened by Taylor Lautner's Hottness

Mark Wahlberg Threatened by Taylor Lautner's Hottness

Mark Wahlberg doesn't seem like the sort to feel threatened by another guy -- and yet there is one actor who has the mighty "Marky Mark" feeling just a bit inadequate: 19-year-old Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner.

While accepting an award at a Hollywood Foreign Press Association luncheon in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Wahlberg joked that he and pal Leonardo DiCaprio, who had also just received an award, were past their prime.

"I'm sitting at a table with a gentleman who is better looking than you and is in better shape than me, so we are both out of a job, dude," Mark, 40, said to Leo, 36. "Taylor Lautner, we're screwed!"

As the room burst into laugher, Wahlberg continued: "It's over, dude. Titanic and Boogie Nights were a long time ago. I accept it. I had a good run and on to the next."

Lautner, who was present at the luncheon, was more than a little flattered by the shout-out. "I don't even know the word to describe being here," he told E! News. "It's so odd. It's such an honor. I'm up on the stage and talking in front of people like that? The people that I looked up to my entire life? Hearing words like that from Mark and everybody it's just really surreal."

Lautner's star sure is on the rise: His first leading-man vehicle, the action-thriller Abduction, hits theaters Sept. 23, and he's back as shirt-allergic werewolf Jacob Black in Nov. 18's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1.

But don't feel too bad for Wahlberg and DiCaprio. Mark is in high demand coming off his critically acclaimed passion project The Fighter last year, and has the thriller Contraband and the black comedy Ted (from Family Guy mastermind Seth MacFarlane) due next year. DiCaprio, meanwhile, scored a huge hit with last year's twisty thriller Inception, is already garnering Oscar buzz for his turn as the titular CIA director in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar (in theaters Nov. 9) and will play another title character in Baz Luhrmann's eagerly anticipated The Great Gatsby adaptation (due in November 2012).
