Los Angeles
I'm here! I'm here! And I saw my first gang-banger get arrested yesterday so I feel like a total Angeleno.
I'm getting ready to go to the gym (again, like a total Angeleno!) so I will update later about my run-ins with Alexander Skarsgard, Pauly Shore, and Jeremy or Jason London (I'm not sure which one it was and seeing if I could force him to do drugs to find out seemed unfair. Besides, as it turned out, he was telling the truth?)
Anyhoo, I've got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)

Rupert Grint & Tom Felton Are Fashion Models
The Harry Potter series might be over, but the stars are still making magic together -- or at least modeling together.
Rupert Grint, also known as Harry's ginger best mate Ron Weasley, and Tom Felton, who to some Potterheads will always be that bullying git Draco Malfoy, have forsaken their respective Gryffindor/Slytherin loyalties to star in a new ad campaign for Band of Outsiders' fall fashion line, E! News reports.
The California-based clothing company hired the Potter vets, both 23, to model their menswear collection in a Polaroid photo shoot that appropriately took place at Hollywood's Magic Castle. The pair is shown playing cards, drinking and walking around the stunning garden of Yamashiro restaurant, all while sporting the hip brand's designs.
The Band of Outsiders campaign comes after a particularly chummy summer for the two stars, who were photographed hanging out together several times in Los Angeles while Felton was promoting his hit summer movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes in early August. Grint was even spotted wearing an I Love Tom Felton T-shirt to the movie's premiere. (Aww)
Capitalizing on the magical duo's popularity, the label twittered "hi & welcome to our new followers today (slash friends of @TomFelton). more pics of #tupert coming later this wk. stay tuned."
And if that's not enough of a tease, Felton himself responded on Twitter: "Thanks to @bandofoutsiders for letting our bromance flourish. It was a truly magical day...kissing shots to come!"

Sinead O'Connor Blogs About Bizarre Sexual Appetites
Between tearing up a picture of Pope John Paul II on SNL in 1992, becoming an ordained Roman Catholic priest (which the Church does not condone) in the late '90s, and declaring herself a lesbian -- and then backtracking soon after -- in 2000, once-bald Irish rocker Sinead O'Connor used to be a lightning rod for controversy. After a few years lying low, she's back with a vengeance: In a series of seriously X-rated posts on her official site and her Twitter feed, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer, now 44, says she's "in desperate need of a very sweet sex-starved man" (guess she was pulling our leg with the whole lesbian thing!) -- and she goes on to describe in sexually graphic detail exactly what she's looking for.
"I know. Its a sin for mothers to talk about sex. Unless its missionary," O'Connor, who has oft railed against the Catholic Church's policies, recently tweeted by way of introduction. "SO VERY VERY happy to be weeny insect chipping away at Ireland's sexual repression."
She then went on to share a very specific list of deal-breakers for what that "sweet sex-starved man" must and must not be like. Many of them -- which deal with the particular kind of sex she likes and are conveniently listed out by New York magazine -- are not appropriate for a family site. The most printable criteria are: "Stubble is a non-negotiable must" and "Must not be named Brian or Nigel."
Things only get weirder from there. "Inanimate objects are starting to look good as are inappropriate and/or unavailable men and/or inappropriate and/or unavailable fruits and vegetables," she writes. "I tell you yams are looking like the winners." Lucky yams!
And Twitter feed has become a running gag of "crude jokes," which she seems to be enjoying immensely. On August 29, she tweeted, "Went 2 doctor. He told me stop wanking. I said "why?". He said "cuz I'm trying to examine u."
In another tweet, O'Connor mock lamented, "Crying now. All alone. Saturday night. Every ugly bitch in the world is gettin' porked but me. : ("
But apparently that's because she's holding out for American comedian Dave Chapelle. "Going (to) bed. Alone," she tweeted on Aug. 27. "Hey u guys in U.S? Dave Chapelle is my dream man. Can u find out if he's single and likes the backdoor?" Alrighty, then!
Despite the racy nature of much of her dialogue, O'Connor has serious criticisms about the way sex is handled in Ireland and is poking fun at some of the more prudish elements of her society. This was evident in an Aug. 27 tweet in which she joked about how her sudden surge in Twitter followers was directly related to one of her references. "867 followers since mentioning anal sex last monday nite!" she wrote. "Shuda mentioned it years ago!"
O'Connor, however, has been sure to tweet that much of what she writes is not true, or is a joke meant to prod at the hypocrisy of those who would criticize her. She takes a breezy tone on her Twitter feed, which makes it one of the most entertaining reads around. For example, she signed off one night with: "I must end now as I have a hot date with a banana."
O'Connor first achieved stardom in the States with her cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U." Apparently, O'Connor now believes that nothing compares to either Dave Chapelle or a banana. The jury is still out on which one she will choose.

Robert Downey Jr. and Wife: Expecting First Child!
The headline above says it all, but the exciting news is worth repeating: Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan Downey are expecting their first child together!
The couple wed in 2005, while the Oscar nominee has a 17-year old son from his first marriage to Deborah Falconer. The baby is due in early 2012.
Downey will next be seen in the sequel to Sherlock Holmes, A Game of Shadows. It comes out on December 16 and you can watch the trailer HERE.

Beyonce Will Be an "Incredible Mother," Says Kelly Rowland
Beyoncé gave an incredible performance of "Love on Top" at last night's Video Music Awards -- but it's the five seconds afterward, when she dramatically revealed her baby bump, that's got everybody talking! Though she flaunted her belly on the red carpet before the show, her post-performance tummy rub was the real "wow!" moment: We got to see hubby Jay-Z grinning ear-to-ear while pal Kanye West jumped up and down in excitement. Another friend who's thrilled for Beyoncé and her man: her former Destiny's Child group-mate Kelly Rowland.
"I have known for quite a while, and she's happy, and Jay is happy, and that's all that counts," Rowland told People.
Rowland, 30, also expressed confidence in Beyoncé's abilities as a mother. "I think she'll be an incredible mother, because she's always been motherly," said the singer. "I think that she takes after so many traits from her mother. And I just think it's going to be so natural for her. It's natural for her now!"
Beyoncs mother Tina Knowles ran her own hair salon while Beyoncé was growing up, then became the costume designer for Destiny's Child -- and still works with her daughters today. As role models go, Beyoncé could do worse!
While the pregnancy announcement was a cleverly-staged surprise, Beyoncé, who turns 30 on Sept. 4, has been forthright about her plans to have a family one day.
The diva has said in the past that she wanted to have a baby at 30 -- although in a June interview with Piers Morgan, she added, "But I also said I was gonna retire at 30. And I'm not retiring!" As for those baby plans, at the time she said, "Only God knows." Well, now the rest of the world knows too!

Is Blake Lively & Leonardo DiCaprio's Romance Getting Serious?
Leonardo DiCaprio was on the other side of the world during Blake Lively's 24th birthday party -- but that doesn't mean things have cooled down between the couple! While Leo couldn't celebrate Lively's big day, he did show his commitment at another family function: Blake's dad's birthday!
Us Weekly reports that DiCaprio, 36, joined Lively and her father Ernie at the Hollywood restaurant Madeo earlier this month. While they celebrated, Leo presented Ernie with a fancy comic book. According to a witness, "Blake's father loved it."
Lively and DiCaprio have been together since May, when they were photographed snuggling at the Cannes Film Festival and then vacationing in Italy. DiCaprio recently came out of a long, on-again-off-again relationship with model Bar Refaeli -- but at least one of their friends seems to think he's more committed this time.
"I bet they get engaged in the next six months!" the anonymous pal tells Us, adding that the actors are "so smitten it's crazy."
So if things are that serious, why wasn't Leo celebrating Blake's birthday with her other friends at her favorite New York City restaurant, The Darby? He actually had a really good excuse: He just began filming The Great Gatsby with Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher and Tobey Maguire in Australia.
We're guessing he'll find a way to make it up to her!

Is Kris Jenner Joining 'The Talk' as New Cohost?
Fresh off her gig as mother of the bride, Kim Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, may have just have scored a new job!
According to EW.com, Jenner has signed on to cohost CBS' chatfest The Talk for two weeks in the fall. But sources say her guest stint could turn into something more permanent and that Jenner may be the substitute for Sharon Osbourne, who is taking a hiatus from the show to spend more time with her husband, rocker Ozzy Osbourne.
There has been a bit of a revolving door at The Talk since its premiere. Most recently it was announced that Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete were not expected to return next season because their contracts were not picked up. Comedian and radio personality Sheryl Underwood is slated to join Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert and Osbourne on the panel for the new season -- and it looks like Jenner may just find a solid home as cohost, as well. And with her wild, reality-TV family, Jenner were certainly have a lot to talk about!
The new season of The Talk premieres on Sept. 6.

Kris Jenner Joins The Talk
Kris Jenner is joining The Talk staring this fall. She is set to give it a shot for a two week stint ? the rest is presumably up to ratings. The talk is just off to a rocky start. It just started last October and already there are shakeups. Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete have left and Sharon Osbourne is up in the air. To me it?s a done deal. The reasons for tuning in have left. But add Kris Jenner to the mix and I am a bit intrigued. I am actually dying to see if it works, how she does, and if she is interesting. She is set to do a two week trial, and I guess a permanent position depends on the ratings. I am not sure if she will get them, but I am wondering how she could possibly balance everything if she does land a permanent position. She just took on managing Kris Humphries, on top of managing the rest of her clan. The younger girls already complain that she manages them poorly. Natalie Portman First Post-Baby Film Role: Playing Angela Lansbury's Mom?
Is Natalie Portman's maternity leave over? The actress, who gave birth to son Aleph in June, is reportedly in "informal" talks for the lead role in a new indie drama.
According to TheWrap, the 30-year-old Black Swan actress has been offered the starring role in Adaline, an indie film about a woman who stops aging after a strange accident. According to an earlier press release, the character "was killed in a car accident, until a simultaneous lightning strike resuscitated her and physiologically locked her in her late 20s. Adaline lives a solitary existence until she meets a man worth losing her immortality for." Katherine Heigl was originally attached to star, but dropped out in November.
While the film sounds cool, the news is surprising -- if only because Portman seemed so excited about taking a long maternity leave.
"I imagine I'm going to want to be home for years, just me and my baby," she told Newsweek in January. She did, however, note that her friends told her otherwise: "Everybody says after two months you go out of your mind."
Maybe Portman is being tempted by Adaline because of the rare opportunity to work with another great actress: Angela Lansbury. The 85-year-old actress -- who has five Tonys, 15 Emmy nominations and three Oscar nominations -- has taken only two film roles in the past decade. If Portman signs on to play the immortal lead character, she won't only get to star with Lansbury -- she'll get to play her mother! That's an offer she won't get again, and perhaps reason enough for husband Benjamin Millepied to stay home with the baby for awhile.

Living it up with her loved ones, Madonna is in the midst of a luxurious family vacation in the South of France.
The "Material Girl" was joined by her boyfriend, Brahim Zaibat, and children, Lourdes and Mercy, as the group hit the Eden Roc waterfront to swim and jet ski in the refreshing Mediterranean water on Thursday (August 25).
After spending the days with the kids, Madge got all prettied up as she and Brahim made their way to the Colombe d'Or Restaurant in Saint Paul de Vence for a romantic dinner date.
Recently dishing on Madonna's new man, a source told tabloids, ?She?s proud of Brahim and sees no reason to keep their relationship on the down-low. After nearly a year together she wants to acknowledge him as her boyfriend."

Frances Bean Cobain's Sultry Photo Shoot
Frances Bean Cobain has definitely inherited at least one talent from her parents: She knows how to get people talking. The daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain, Frances has spent most of her young life dodging the media spotlight. But now a stunning new photo series shows the 19-year-old looking like an old-school Hollywood glamour queen.
In the new pictures, taken by fine art photographer Rocky Schenck, a red-haired Frances Bean looks sultry as she smokes a cigarette, then sophisticated as she poses in a flowing draped gown. Another set shows her posing in the shadow of tree branches, looking mysterious and aloof. These pictures come on the heels of Cobain's grittier photo shoot for another artist, Hedi Slimane, who made her look like a dark, tattooed rebel.
Different as these photo sets are, she's gorgeous in both of them -- and impossible to look away from. In fact, Cobain is already being dubbed the new muse of the fashion world. It's certainly a compliment -- but is that what Kurt and Courtney's daughter really wants for herself?
In her most recent interview, for Harper's Bazaar in 2008, Frances Bean said she hadn't decided what to do with her life; at the time, she was into photography, performing in stage musicals and buying designer shoes. But four years is a lifetime when you're a teenager, and Bean's ambitions may have changed. (Back then, she said her goal in life was "to be sublimely happy" and "live in a way that isn't too hectic.") Lately she's seemed more interested in art, and in 2010 had a successful gallery show of irreverent drawings (for which she used a pseudonym).
Seems like she's just experimenting with who she wants to be, which seems totally normal for a 19-year-old girl. And, after a lifetime in the shadow of her rock legend parents, she's finally coming into her own.

Kim Kardashian on Wedding: "We Were in Heaven"
The wedding of the year -- at least, the wedding of the year on American soil -- is now over: Reality star Kim Kardashian, 30, and NBA star Kris Humphries, 26, are officially man and wife, after being hitched in a lavish Aug. 20 ceremony at a private estate in Montecito, Calif. So, after all the media frenzy leading up to their nuptials, was the big day somewhat of a letdown? According to the newlyweds, not in the slightest!
"It was like we were in heaven," Kim gushes to People. And her newly minted hubby concurs. "I'm going to remember how perfect it was," says Humphries.
Sharon Sacks, the wedding planner, tells People that the couple wanted the wedding to be a blend of glamour and tradition; judging from the early photos, Sacks achieved just that. "Kim loves black and white and so does Kris," says Sacks. "They have this Hollywood royalty feeling, and the black and white represented formality. But tradition was very important to them."
For Kardashian, choosing the perfect dress was also key. And, donning a custom-made Vera Wang gown, Kardashian says she "felt like a princess."

Glee Project Crowns Two Winners
Well, Glee creator Ryan Murphy said we'd be surprised when we found out who won The Glee Project, and he was right. Even viewers who correctly predicted which contestant would win the seven-episode arc on Glee (premiering Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox) turned out to be wrong -- because there were actually two winners.
The dread-locked rocker, Samuel Larsen, 19, and the boyish, Irish kid, Damian McGinty, 18, both won Oxygen's talent competition to appear on Season 3 of Glee. And runners-up Alex Newell, 18 (the androgynous African-American kid), and Lindsay Pearce, 20 (the brunette Reese Witherspoon look-alike) will have roles in two episodes each.
Each of the four finalists had support from mentors (like Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr.), former competitors and viewers, but executive producer Ryan Murphy had the last word. In June, he described the winners to TV Guide.
"The person that won, for me, the reason why I chose them was because they had the exact same thing that Lea Michele has, that Chris Colfer has, that Darren Criss has, which is they are a star and I want to write for them," Murphy said. "They just inspired me and they inspired the rest of the regulars of the Glee cast."
But now that there are two new characters, which one will fill the role that Murphy has planned for the champion? "The Glee Project winner is Sue Sylvester's new archenemy and she is going to destroy their life," Murphy told TV Guide. So will Sue (Jane Lynch) fix her evil glare on the baby-faced Irish kid, or the dreadlocked hippie?
Seems more likely that Sue would hate Larsen, but then, this hurricane in a tracksuit can be downright unpredictable about who she chooses to offend. We'll just have to wait and see.

MTV Introduces New Reality Show With 324-lb. Star
MTV is known for turning beautiful no-names into full-on celebrities -- and now there's a new a star on the horizon. But Chelsea Settles, the star of the new show with the same name, isn't your typical Laguna Beach-looking lady.
At 324 lbs., Settles, 23 is the network's "new kind of MTV heroine." She leaves her small hometown in hopes of making it big in the Los Angeles fashion scene, all while struggling to lose weight. The new reality star will have "an opportunity to expand her social life by confronting the social phobias that have been holding her back," MTV explains in a press release. "[She'll have a chance] to take control of her weight in an effort to get healthy."
Viewers will also get to see Settle deal with all the typical stresses that come with relocating and weight loss, and will be taken on the emotional journey as the young woman tries to "fit" into the body-conscious world of Hollywood.
Chelsea Settles premieres in a special hour-long episode on Oct. 11, at 11 p.m. EST.

Russell Armstrong's Mom Threatens Bravo with Lawsuit
Bravo is still reeling from the news that Russell Armstrong, estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong, commited suicide on Monday night. Bravo has not yet made a formal announcement about when (or if?) the upcoming season of RHoBH (which had been slated to premiere Sept. 5) will air. But the network just got a strongly worded warning from John Anne Hotchkiss, Russell Armstrong's mother: "Better not air one frame of my son -- or else!"
Hotchkiss delivered the threat in an interview with CNN Thursday night, where Hotchkiss said that the Armstrong family was currently "circling the wagons." They have already been quite vocal about their feelings towards Bravo, and their feelings about their son's participation in the show. Wade Jackson, Russell Armstrong's stepbrother, told Radar Online that the family was considering a lawsuit.
"Bravo is at fault and somebody needs to pay," Jackson told Radar. "Russell's whole family was very close and they're considering suing Bravo... Russell's dad doesn't want to talk about what happened to him with a lot of people, but everyone in the family thinks that Bravo is to blame."
Suicides usually leave a trail of recriminations in their wake, and speculation began immediately as to what the root cause of Russell's suicide might have been. Was it stress from participating in a reality TV show? The impending divorce from his wife and the imposed separation from their 5-year-old daughter Kennedy? Or was it the knowledge that an alleged tell-all book was in the works which would reveal some of Armstrong's sexual secrets? It may have been a mixture of all of those things, but whatever was to blame ultimately doesn't change the fact that a 5-year-old girl will now grow up without her father.
A source close to the show tells The Hollywood Reporter that Bravo has decided to push back the premiere of the new season by "at least one week" to do some re-editing and allow the sting of the tragedy to subside a bit. However, the source adds that the network is unlikely to scrap the entire season.
